How are MADE Cymru’s Innovation Management students getting on?

Lecturer and innovation guru Alan Mumby takes time to update us.

On Thursday and Friday, I managed to ‘pack in’ a series 1-2-1 sessions with students from all the cohorts who have joined us since the launch of our MADE Cymru courses in August 2019 – straight through to those who joined us in this year’s June intake – that’s 6 cohorts in total! I can tell you quite honestly that those two days of 1-2-1 tutorials were not a trial for me – on the contrary the experience was a complete joy!

It was so rewarding to hear how much they’re all enjoying their studies – and how even now, what they’re learning has already started to influence how they approach and carry out their work. Their newfound knowledge is starting to reshape company strategy, develop new products, enhance their service offering and in doing so securing their present and future client base – and all in an innovative and sustainable manner.

Students from the first cohort are now completing their dissertations, all of which are on seriously interesting topics from comparing company innovation programmes with ISO 56000 – a series of new emerging international standards through to the implementation of frugal innovation in the more challenging areas of the world.

Others have been discovering the world of international innovation management, gaining a better understanding of Industry 4.0 and for others discovering how innovative companies are creating better products and services by finding improved ways to manage their new product development.

We’re coming up to a new term on October 1st and I just want to offer our new cohort of students a big hello and welcome to the start of your adventure!

So how do I think the MADE Cymru programme is doing? Well after chatting to our students….pretty good I’d say.
