Our staff have considerable experience of successfully translating research and innovation into new products, processes and services. Each project will have an agreement in place which covers issues such as Intellectual Property Rights (IP). In most cases the University will own the IP in the University’s Results, and the Company will own the IP in the Company’s Results. However, please note that each project will be considered and agreed with companies on a case by case basis.

- Software packages include: Ansys, Solidworks, Artec 3D, Geomagic Design X
Projects will vary dependent on a number of factors such as scale and complexity however, typically stage 1 should take no longer than 14 days and stage 2 between 6 weeks and 6 months.
ADE is broken down into 3 stages:
- Stage 1 – Bespoke Needs Analysis: we work with you to fully understand the challenges and to scope out an effective R&D project.
- Stage 2 – Prototype Project: a collaborative research project in which new technologies, materials and methods are tried and tested for viability.
- Stage 3 – Technology Adoption: supporting you to convert stages 1 and 2 into meaningful operational change.
There is no financial cost to participating businesses, however, companies are expected to make in-kind contributions to the project, including staff time and resources in order to ensure effective collaboration and transition of research.
Over 99% of firms in Wales are categorised as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). SMEs are defined as enterprises that employ up to 250 employees and have an annual turnover of less than €50 million.
ADE has a clear focus on working with SMEs in the supply chain realise the benefits of advanced engineering technologies.
A 3 year EU funded programme designed to offer practical support to help businesses adopt advanced manufacturing technologies.
MADE is a suite of European-funded projects delivered by University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD) through its research Centre for Advanced Batch Manufacture (CBM).
The taught elements are delivered live and online with blended learning every Friday afternoon. Therefore, if you have access to a computer/laptop you can join from anywhere.
Lectures generally run from 1pm to 3pm and/or (depending on the modules being studied) from 3:15pm to 5:15pm
All sessions are recorded; therefore, should you miss a lesson for any reason then you will have full access to all the resources online to enable you to catch up at a suitable time.
Entry requirements can be assessed on an individual basis and prior experience is taken into consideration. For the level 5 Continuous Improvement with Industry 4.0 module a minimum of a level 3 qualification is desirable. Do contact us to discuss this.

UWTSD offer 24 hour telephone support for IT related issues to all students on all programmes. Also, the MADE team has a member of staff who is available for support – weekdays 8am – 4:30pm via telephone, email and Teams.

Yes, we have a finance and compliance team who can liaise with you directly to confirm your status. If you are not eligible for funding, you can still do the Course but there will be a fee.
