The MADE Cymru team is pleased to welcome a new face to the team. David Jones joins as a lecturer on the Upskilling for Industry 4.0 programme. In particular, he will be supporting the Quality Green Belt Six Sigma with Industry 4.0 projects.

David is an experienced engineer and project manager with a solid history of working in the aviation, automotive, oil and gas industries both at operational management and plant supervision level. He brings with him the experience of working, within each of the sectors, on new product introductions, such as the BMW Mini within the automotive sector and titanium fan blades for Rolls Royce.

He has spent considerable time working with third party suppliers to improve their manufacturing capabilities and using the Continuous Improvement tools within industries reluctant and resistant to change.

David said, “I really welcomed the opportunity to join the MADE Cymru team to support the manufacturing industry in Wales. It’s a challenging time but the adoption of new technologies can really help prepare manufacturers for the future. We are working with some very exciting organisations who are keen to upskill their staff – not only to recognise new technologies but also to identify which ones suit their own processes best.”

Outside of MADE Cymru and manufacturing, David runs a livestock farm on the Gower and enjoys walking around Pennard with his golf clubs!
