Nauman has an interdisciplinary background with a desire to apply engineering principles in medical device applications. He developed a keen interest in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine during his undergraduate studies in Medical Engineering at Swansea University. He went on to obtain his MSc in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. For his thesis, he worked with a start-up company based in Wales performing research on electrospinning of marine sourced collagen and chondrocyte cell culture, developing tissue engineering scaffolds for cartilage repair. Nauman recently completed his Ph.D. research that focused on the design and fabrication of tissue engineering scaffolds employing biomimetic architecture. For this project, he collaborated with the Wales Centre for Advanced Batch Manufacture gaining experience in 3D printing and prototype design.
